I am an RN by trade......I am also a mother, grandmother, friend, daughter, and I am an addict...I think getting those words out is a big part of dealing with addiction.
[More] The pills are not the all mighty focus of my life anymore...moving on..learning to cope and helping others is where I am at these days...i am a nurse and by nature i will always reach out to help those in need and it helps me in the process.... sayings i have heard that have stuck with me for all this time that i learned from here
Trying once is not enough for most, and do not beat urself up if u dont make it the firsty time u stop using. Few do. Keep moving forward..always!
"Save maintenence drugs like sub and methadone (especially sub) for the time that u give up on being able to make it on ur own plan to to recovery that includes aftercare. If you have not even tried aftercare, you are only cheating urself while you start a narcotic that will be a witch to quit!..great tool but remember it is a tool and not a miracle" My Observation
"If u r a chronic pain patient, look at ur long term goals before u start any long term narcotics for pain" My Pain Mgt Doctor
"U will quit, when u get sick and tired of being sick and tired" WORRIED878
"There will never, ever be enough pills to satisfy me" TOXICTOME
"And when the desire to quit exceeds the desire to use..u will suceed" GTM
"There is never a good time to quit, only the time u make to quit" Someone on the forum but it stuck with me
"A person that has kicked the addiction/for now/ is only a second away from relapse" AVISG
"After care is the most important thing any addict can do for their safety and well being" TOXICTOME
Good luck to all! this is so do-able...90% mental....when u decide to do it, u have to be ready and willing...support is very much a key process...and also being....so sick and tired of being sick and tired...it is a control issue in essence///r u going to let that bottle of pills control you? If u have decided u r not....u r almost there! And life is better on the other side...go there...find out...and u will agree
10-27-12.....update...LOL Years go by but addiction doesnt leave an addict alone..it will pester you when you least expect it as does nicotine... so be sure you stayed armed with aftercare. Stress, losses in life..sometimes no reason at all...the old web that was woven in my brain will think about using. They become farther and farther in between, but not sure if they ever go away completely, not as long as we keep living. But life using is really no life at all as it consumes us...and even now I have to remind myself of that.
