About Me: Male, 70, Boca Raton, FL, member since Dec 2012
My Mitral valve valve was repaired in May 2009 and then replaced six-months later (November 2009). The first surgery was emotionally a disaster - the second was completely different from an emotional perspective.
In the month before and after my 2nd surgery I talked extensively with over 30 open heart patients (emphasis on patients that had two or more surgeries) to learn what helped them to enjoy a more positive recovery that I had experienced with my 1st surgery.
I am currently writing a patient-centric book on proactive emotional and physical recovery from open heart surgery based on my experiences and interviews.
Additionally, I am compiling open heart success stories into a series of "Open Heart Success Stories" books.
