My uncle also had diabetes, it just all seems to go together. Thankfully when my uncle found out, he never touched another drop. Sadly however the damage was already done. By causing the damage themselves, they are not a canidate for transplant either. My uncle never let his health issue stop him from living. You don't know how many times the doctors told us they did not know how he was still alive. According to his doctors, he should have been dead 10 years ago, so we attribute his extra time to his positive attitude. So, hopefully your husband will be the same way.
