About Me: Male, 70, Woodhaven, NY, member since Apr 2008
I'm 64, diagnosed HCV+ with genotype 1b in February, 2008.
[More] in May, 2008, gave me a Metavir of A2/F1. A year and a half later, a Fibroscan gave me a Metavir equivalent of F3/F4. Either something's wrong with these tests, or I think I win the contest for the world's fastest progressor.
I'm a New Yorker, but I currently reside in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I belong to the Health Plan of the Italian Hospital here. They have a pretty good Hepatology Department.
Between tests at the hospital I go tango dancing. I'm told I do real argentine style tango, probably because I love tango music and have been listening to it for thirty years.
I was a documentary filmmaker and journalist until I retired four years ago. I still write articles now and then, mostly on third-world political economics. You can download one at http://www.iade.org.ar/uploads/c87bbfe5-4e61-efb5.pdf It's in Spanish, though.
I also do figure skating. I learned as an adult. It keeps me fit.
I'm gonna keep on dancing and skating as long as I can.
Just a quick note to say hi! Mike, I never know what questions to ask and they never seem to tell me much. What beside what geno-type am I should I find out? I will mention the other test too. If mine has turned to sirrosis is there any chance to clear anyway? Do you think I could take the meds and keep working? I think I'm getting too old for this stuff!
Just a quick note to say hi! I see my Hep C doctor on the 27th, I feel another biospy coming. Are the Pl's already approved here and what are they. Is the IL28B something that I might want to ask my doc about? Maybe he could do it along with the biospy. Hope your having a good weekend. ♥
