About Me: Female, 51, Windsor, ON, member since Apr 2008
As the Co-Community Leader of the Arthritis forum I am dedicated to helping others navigate their health issues while getting answers for my own problems too. I'm also the Co-CL of Healthy Cooking where I get to share my cooking obsession with others. I am the mother
[More] of a grown son, single again, and still trying to figure out where my life is headed.
I had surgery June 6/08 to remove a cluster of multiple cysts that was grapefruit sized and had bled together from my right ovary. Because of my previous bowel surgeries my gyn took a general surgeon in with him in case there were problems with my ileal pouch or the scar tissue. We intended to do a total hysterectomy because of the risk of surgery to me but because scarring was so bad they only removed the cyst, the right ovary and tube using a vertical cut. Very nervous about future issues with remaining ovary and uterus. Looks like an ablation is in my future.
When I was 21 I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and after suffering for 10 years my bowel perforated and I required emergency surgery to remove my large colon. A year later I had a pelvic pouch created at Mt. Sinai in Toronto and have had great success with that. My son has now been diagnosed with UC.
I am in the midst of finalizing my diagnosis of Lupus and am being treated with Plaquenil. I am seeing results but we are trying to solve my iron deficiency anemia, pelvic pain and neurological issues so we can determine the next stage of treatment. Glad that I am having more good days than bad but really want to get answers so I know what I am dealing with. Rheumatologist just added fibromyalgia to my list.
I work in the software industry. Cooking is my passion and I also love to do stained glass, read and take bubble baths!
Dealing with a worrisome complex cyst. Such stress at Christmas.
And so it begins again. Looks like another cyst or mass on my other ovary. If only they'd done the hysterectomy last round...
Today I started my prgoram with a stress and health coach. I am taking Skinny Fiber and using her coaching plus my gymn membership. Minimum of 45 pounds to lose in 6 months and will change my habits so it stays off.
Just a quick note to say hi! Oh my goodness, you are the first person I have read about that had the same response as me to Plaquinil. Your post from 2009 said "With the plaquenil I saw a big reduction in brain fog, tiredness and flu like feeling and big increase in ability to concentrate. ". THANK you so much for your post, your words are exactly how I feel. I have been on Plaquinil for 3 months now. Makes me feel g od to see another experiences the same effect. Thanks again.

Thanks for the note! Things are good in my world with the occasional set back to keep me on my toes! Such is life. I think you are a strong woman and this is just a blip on your radar. You have many good things to come and may this new year, 2012 be filled with them! I'm here anytime you need an ear. Peace.
