About Me: Female, 53, LeRoy, MI, member since Apr 2008
I am a 45 yr. old female that was completely healthy 2 months ago. I got 2 virual infections within a 2 week period. I ended up in the hospital with the last infection. I was very dehydrated and I had run a temperature of 101.9 for 5 days. After the infection I expe
[More]rienced rapid heart beats, shortness of breath, and severe tremors. Everyone time I moved my heart rate would go up and the more I did the more it increased. I had an EKG, Echo, Stress Test, Thyroid test, Adrenal Gland test, & a Tilt Table test. I was sent to a cardialogist and was diagnosed with HyperAdrenergic POTS. It is an autonomic nervous system disorder. Whenever a normal person moves their blood vessels constrict to force the blood to move up towards the hear. My blood vessels open and causes my blood to pool wherever gravity takes it. Then my heart races to bring the blood up to my heart, brain, and organs. Then my nervous system kicks in and my blood pressure goes up and I get tremors. I have a severe case of POTS and the doctor's do not know if I will be able to work again. It is very difficult to go from working 40+ hrs. a week, acitive in my church & community, and keeping up with 2 teenagers, to not being able to walk for more than 10-15 min. I would like to hear from anyone who has experienced this condition and if they know of anyone that has totally recovered. Thanks so much.
Just was blown away by a post that you wrote about having tremors and POTS I too look like i am having a seizure , I have been to the Mayo Clinic in Jax as Cleveland Clinic said they couldn't handle the dysautonomia too...but things have been pretty rough at times with all this stuff...have you heard any more as to what has been going on...I guess that post was from 2008!
Thanks you for the reply.October is a ways a way. But I do know the Mayo clinic they are very good. They can't figure out everyone and so I don't blame them for not figureing me out. I do know the care I received there was great.. A++ all the way. I hope you find out what is wrong with you and I hope you get some answers. Keep me updated. I will keep you in my thoughts. Good luck... Jill
