[More]actly has been discovered by the five PSN reports I have received since 1993! (PLMS both day and night and shallow breathing.) Sleep specialists seem inundated with new patients who have mostly been suffering sleep deprivation for years, whose days have been made impossibly difficult through lack of recuperative sleep and who, in some cases unfortunately, are dangerous drivers on the roads. Neurology sleep specialists seem few and far between, are overworked and probably exhausted. Little space is provided on this subject in the curriculum of medical students. Research and shared information via the web can play a great part in lessening the demand on doctors, hospitals. Publicity is not appearing. Support groups do exist throughout Quebec but there is as yet no english speaking group, although Fondation Sommeil (Montreal) are doing their best. Private clinics are sprouting and profitable but funded public support is lacking.
