About Me: Female, United Kingdom, member since Jun 2013
Almost 6 years ago my life changed dramatically. I had an accident and for 6 months went about with a partial-dislocation of my hip. 6 months of seeing many doctors who looked me up and down, turned me this way then that...didn't take my condition or agonising pain seri
[More]ously. SIX MONTHS! Until my parents paid privately for a physio session who said one side was higher, I had a partial-dislocation of the hip, which she then straightened. For the next 3 years I had further partial-dislocations as the hip was extremely sensitive to not staying in place. Apart from that, I had - have - ongoing chronic pain. Chronic pain. Pain that never lets up. Achy pain, shooting lighning pain, hot burning pain, pins and needles, cramping pain, pain that wakes me in the night, pain that reaches my jaws, makes me nauseous / vomit. Oh as well as the pain I haven't walked properly since 6 years ago. 'They' in the medical profession (apart from the nurses who actually care) didn't take that seriously either until recently. Er, why is she still going on about it? We diagnosed she'd be walking properly in 3 months time?! I need a walking stick to walk the few steps I do, mobility scooter or car for longer journeys. Thank God I had one social worker and one doctor actually take me seriously this year - I now have a disabled parking permit. As usual I have too much on my plate and there are other negative factors going on which makes life not just poorer in quality, but a hell of a struggle. But as usual I try to continue in a positive, growing way. I hope there are better times round the corner.
