About Me: Female, 35, Coral Springs, FL, member since Aug 2013
My name is Donna. I am originally from LI NY and now am living in Coral Springs FL with my boyfriend of just about 3 yrs. I was Diagnosed with Lupus 7 years ago at the age of 26. My original symptom was when my fingers were turning white and getting numb due to being
[More] cold. It gradually got worse, but once it was worse it was really bad. They werer turning purple and while they were numb if I hit my hand into anything it would be so painful and cause an ulcer. So bad that I actually lost a little bit on my right index finger. I thank god that it wasnt the whole finger and the minute my doctor wanted me to see a hand surgeon I freaked out. It took alot of time an effort for it to get better - best soution for ulcers on you finger, I found this worked for me best, is to soak them in warm water so they get loose looking and goey. Sometimes they would burst which they say is bad but i think it helped more for me anyway but always listen to your doctor reardless. After soaking them for awhile I put pieces of silicone on the spot and wrapped it up. I don't really get them anymore since the meds im on but if I get a cut MY life has drastically changed due to being diagnosed. I can't remember the last time I woke up in the am and said " Boy what a great night slee I got, I feel so well rested and full of energy". I am always tired and achy, it's so frustrating. I am however aware of what I need to do and how my body reacts to everything. Exercise works really well for inflammation and soreness in joints and mucles. Obviously I am not able to do my old routine with Tae Bo but some strength training and 30 mins of cardio are so beneficial, it's getting my tired self there that's the hard part. And the days that I stay in bed due to a mild sinus infection kill me - I'll feel fine but I am so stiff and sore from not moving for a whole day and staying in bed. It's a double edge sword. I stay in bed so my body can fight the sickness and then the next day I feel like I got the hell beat outta me. So now I am just about 33 and trying not to feel like I'm turning 73. LOL. I signed up here pretty much due to just wanting to learn more about symptoms I have been recently getting in hopes it comes with the Lupus (weird I know) and isn't going to be the start of another yet fabulous disease with RX names I would come acustom to spelling and pronoucing all to well :). Hoping to exchange some advice, comfort and information.
