I am a happy, friendly college student who loves teaching kids music (especially piano & to sing). I was a competition swimmer of 7 years with the long-term goal of making it to the Olympics in 2008 or 2012 until heart problems got in the way. I love hanging out with
[More] friends and my family, but also love time alone. I am generally an introvert, but share my life story freely. I collect postage stamps and rare coins and enjoy playing badminton. I am heavily involved in my church (music and children's ministries) and enjoy helping whenever I can (or have the energy). Stop by and say "hi" when you get a chance... I am especially interested in supporting others experiencing heart rhythm problems... as that's what I'm dealing with at the moment. "Trials bring together those people who would never otherwise meet" - myself. :)
I am a 20 year old girl, and was just diagniosed with Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachicardia.
My symptoms are similar to yours, but my first major episode was triggered my martial arts. My doctors aren't concerned, since I haven't had any major problems since I was 15, but I had to quit martial arts.
I also have episodes due to stress, which is why my parents haven't allowed me to go to college, and heat. I was outside in 75 - 80 degree temps for 4 hours, and that sent my resting heart rate into the 110 - 120 for over 24 hours.
My doctors don't want to put me on a beta blocker since I'm an asthmatic, but I don't want this condition to rule my life.
Do you have any suggestions to aid a fellow girl?
Hey, hon. Actually I haven't gotten any test results back yet. Which kinda ***** cause I'd REALLY like to know what's going on inside me. What scares me the most is that the doctors might find nothing at all wrong with me...making me believe it's all in my head when I know that it is NOT. But then again I don't want anything seriously wrong with me lol. My heart palpitations always get worse when I think about them. Everyone tells me it's just anxiety. Maybe it is. I just wish I could know for sure! But how are you doing? Better than me I hope! ^_^
Hope you feel better soon! I'm always here if you wanna talk...heart problems REALLY suck. I just wish we could all live normally without having to worry about all this ****...
I hope we both feel better soon!!
Stay in touch with me, ok?? ^_^
