found out I was HCV+ after a donation to the blood b
[More]ank in May 2008, it was confirmed with my PCP in June, again in July, and October 2008. Finally found out genotype: 1A (ugh) I'll post all my numbers later this week, left labs in desk at work.
After long & hard search, fired old GI, found a new one that is a Hep doc and am very happy with him. (see my journal entry about searching for a dr.)
New dr & I have concurred that I contracted HCV between April 2007 and April 2008. Because I have been donating regularly, and we trust the blood banks screening, we know that my exposure was from either of the following: sexual, nail salon, or dentist. Those are the only risks I've had. Yes, the risks of transmission from either of these is very small, but the risk still exists.
Because of this window of exposure, Doc thinks that maybe I'm in the Acute phase, or on the skirts of it. We'll see. I'll be doing a Fibrosure test soon, now that I found out I can go to a Labcorp lab.
We're waiting on deciding about treatment because of another issue: Gallbladder problems. (See my journal entry about this story lol). If I have to have the surgery to remove gb, then we'll do a biopsy then since I'll be under already. Thank goodness!
Oh, also HSV + since 1985, high stress and a history of clinical depression dx in 2000, treated for only about 6 months then.
