I was diagnosed in 2007 after surgery, with epithelial OVCA stage 4B, with mets to the lymph nodes. A chest port was installed and I had carbo/taxol, only a 3-4 month remission and then started Topotecan which has reduced my CA125 steadily.. I will repeat the CA monthly

[More],and the scan every 3 months. I'm also BRAC 2 positive, I had that test done for my children and grandchildren's medical info. I had complained of the 4 symptoms of OVCA for 6 months, to my former Internist, who said it was probably side affects of a med. I'm taking for Uveitis, an auto immune eye disease. I made an appointment to see him, told him of my cancer and shortened life span, he apologized and I walked out. We live in NJ, tried Fla. for 3 years, too many hurricanes hit our area and moved back to NJ. Feb. 26th had scans, if they're clear we can stop Topotecan and thankfully be in remission again. My Cancer is aggressive, and Onco. said remissions will be short. I'll be ready to fight it again!!
My oncologist's associate said that since my CA125 was 17.3 in May, ( today is June 22nd 2009) and my last CT scan showed no evidence of disease, there's no need for chemo. We know we're dealing with a chronic disease which will come back, but for now I'll enjoy a no chemo life to it's fullest. Thank you G-d.
My interests are my husband of 45 years, my sons and granddaughters, my 2 pussycats, cooking when I'm up to it, and my neglected indoor plants.
