Hi Su. I have the same exact pain and have had it since a fall some years ago. I read on a forum just the other day to lay on the floor and place a tennis ball over the pain, then roll around on the tennis ball in that general area. It hurts like HECK when you're doing it, but got relief over the next couple of days. That is on my left side. I still have it on my right and can't seem to get rid of it so I believe I must have a pinched nerve. My stupid doctor looks at me and says, "but there's nothing there (in the buttocks) that can go wrong." My dogs Vet is better than this guy! lol Try the tennis ball. They did explain that as we get older the muscles, tendons and such shrink and this somehow loosens them up. Makes sense to me.
