This part is always hard for me , you see , I don't really like to talk about myself. It is not an issue of being shy, it is that I am a private person , and sometimes when I talk about all the things that are wrong with me physically , I feel like a "whiny-hiny" , seek ... [More] ing attention. But , since you asked , here goes......
I have been sick much of my life , and even my nurses training did not prepare me for the coditions that I am now in. When I was 4 or 5 , I had a case a chicken pox so bad , that I had to be hospitalized , and have suffered with cold sores on my mouth since. In 1972 , as a pregnant teen-ager ,and a run away ,I was raped...I was 8 mos into the pregnancy....the next day some friends took me swimming to help me try and relax , while sitting beneath the oaks , I was bitten by a tick , which I found that evening in the shower.3 days later I awoke in the hospital , a doc told me that they were not sure what was wrong with me , or if they could save me or the baby. That is a tough thing to hear. It turns out that I had contracted Rocky Mntn Spotted Fever from that tick , I ran a fever of 106 for 2 days , I survived but I lost my daughter. I became fascinated with the medical world , went to nsg school , and after 30 yrs , I retired.
I now have Fibromyalgia ,CFS, multiple sites of osteoarthritis , and some bizzare type of connective tissue disorder that is causing my joints to fall apart due to tendon degeneration. I have 2 grown sons , married , love to read and do hand quilting.
What I used to do , before I fell apart....I have raised , and shown Austrailian Shepherds since 1978 , raised , trained and shown horses since 1988 , I used to hike...now I walk with a cane...I used to swim , now I have chlorine insensitivity so bad that just bathing in treated water is terrible.Most days I feel like my joints are in a vice and my muscles ache all the time. Due to the CFS , I have to nap , sometimes 3 times a day , and thanks to the unrelenting pain , I never sleep more than 4 hrs....and yes , I take the max amt of sleep meds allowed.
I am an optimist , so on most days , if you should ask how I feel , I'll tell you , "If it weren't for the pain and fatigue , I'd be fine"...I hope that I can be of some help to others here that suffer some of the same dragons that I do. [Less]

See our freind has joined here too. We were talking about this place the other day and I resent her the link. I would never give up on you as I know that you have a good reason for not being around much. I do hope that this horrible situation with your son's family can get sorted out and to not have contact with his babies is just awful for him (and for you too). It is just not right. I was wondering. Here they have family services department which can negotiate visitations and it can be made a legally binding requirement on both the parents. Not sure if you have something like that there. It is not needed to have a lawyer or actually be in the divorce procedure either. Please hang in there as he needs you right now I am sure.
