I am a 43 something year old female. I have lived in Michigan all my life. I have a wonderful, amazing son, age 17 1/2 and a senior in high school. I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia in 2006 after several years of treatment for what I thought was dental pain.
[More] In June 2007, I underwent surgery in Pittsburgh, PA (MVD/Mastoid Craniectomy-spelling?). I had a 2nd surgery Oct.2007 to correct problems from 1st, unfortunately w/out success. I had to take a disability retirement as I still suffer from pain, facial paralysis & other problems related to surgery. I am very hopeful that complete healing & restoration will come in time. I do, however, get discouraged, impatient and frustrated. My life is much simpler and I must redesign it now that job, finances, health, etc. factors have changed so significantly, along with my priorities and what I consider important to me. I am truly blessed. I have met, and will meet, a whole new group of interesting people and friends as I learn to venture out on this new journey.
Hope you feel better soon!
Please don’t fret about not writing for a while. I will not try to say I know what it is like to have pain 24/7 but I am here if you wish to talk. I know I can’t take the pain away but I can at least be a sounding board. When I was having pain a lot, I didn’t want to do much either. I made myself go to work and do a few things. And what do you mean, ‘you hope’ to talk soon. You better not write me off now that we have a friendship going…you are welcome and if I can do anything…let me know…MaryAnn
