If you have slight discomfort and want to have a drink, eat four antacid tablets 15 mins before you drink. Personally I love alcohol too much to give it up- you just have to be sensible and pick your times to drink wisely.
Oh yeah- I forgot to mention soft drink...big no,no.
Don't waste time and money on: Mastic gum, DGL licorice, Manuka honey, glutamine, etc. The list goes on and on. Some of these may help (Mastic gum did help a little), but the results aren't good enough to warrant the cost.
Give me a buzz in a month or two and let me know how your gastritis is. My email is adamperks81_at_gmail_dot_com
Thirdly, take 9 omega-3 tablets per day (take three with each meal). That is everything you need to buy. As for diet, avoid: raw tomato (fully cooked is ok, i.e. pasta sauce), raw onion, citric acid, too much salt (irritates the stomach lining), no caffeine (coffee or tea), decaf coffee (it still contains irritants that increase you digestive acids). If you like tea, you can happily drink rooibos tea. Also avoid eating fruit before/after a meal. Fruit digests very quickly and plays havoc with your stomach if eaten with a large meal. Eat fruit only in-between meals or as a meal itself. Also, try to reduce stress and relax when you get home. Meditation helps a lot, but I have to admit I should have done more of this.
Finally, if you are in pain...don't drink any alcohol. contined...
Hi Marie,
Asking me for help is a good move- I have spent over $AUD1600 trialing various remedies, so my advice will certainly save you some time and money!
Now, I can only give you insight/advice based on my experience- what didn't work for me might work for you (or others). But saying that, off all the things I have tried, there is only a couple that I would advise for you to try.
Firstly, go and buy something called Astritin (www.astritin.com). Please buy two bottles- one gave me improvements but two bottles are definitely needed!
Secondly, if you are getting bad acid reflux or stomach bloating go and buy yourself a bottle (or two) of Siberian Pine Oil. This stopped my reflux and bloating very effiectively.
