I was working until about 3 weeks ago. I took medical leave of abscence to have this surgery for a refusion attempt. Hopefully your fusion works out great and you won't have hardware pain. My pain is coming from the hardware and the nonunion so I have no choice but to try again. This time they will harvest bone from my pelvis. They have never done that before. Did they harvest your bone? If so, is their a lot of pain from the harvest site? I have heard a lot of people complain that it hurts worse where they harvested the bone. That is why I never went that route in the past.
I am now a school teacher because I could not handle all of the standing a nurse has to do. When the pain gets better I will go back, I miss it terribly. I was a neonatal nurse. Take care, Audrea
Wow, that's awesome! Where's Falls Church, Va.? I used to live in Gloucester near Newport News. I used to work at the Catholic Hosp. there in Newport News, Mary Emmanual. I loved it there. I had a little house right off the water on an inlet with a doc in front of the house where all different kinds of boats were. I still miss that place. I also worked at the Children's hospital in Norfolk, but only for about 2 months. That was a long drive. Where I live here you have to drive at least 4-5 hours to see the ocean, near Houston or Galveston. It is way too humid to live on the Gulf Coast. Va. did have it's humid days too, but nothing like the Gulf. I have a lot of family around Mathews and Gloucester and hope to visit them this summer. I pray that you are doing well. Audrea
refuse to feel guilty about it anymore. I have a three year old daughter thank God at least I can take meds that do help to some degree so I can be a good mother to her. Without the meds I would not be able to function on a daily basis.
When I read your post it seemed like you thought it was such a bad thing to take meds. I know how they can control you-how you feel when you don't take them you go into wd's. That is the part I hate about these meds. I feel like I don't need to take them when I am not working because my pain is not bad, but I work 5 days out of the week so I can't take them for 5 and not any for 2. There isn't anything you can do about being dependent. It is what it is. Just know if you are taking them correctly the meds are there to help you. I hope you feel better.
I have tried I don't know how many times to see if I could handle the pain without the meds. Everytime I would wean off the meds but had to go back on them because I was is so much pain without the meds I could not work. I think God would rather us take something that could improve our quality of life and to try to live as full of a life that we can, as long as we do not abuse them. After all, He is the one who made the Poppy plant, there must be a reason for it. At least, this is what has been told to me from those in the Christian Community. I know family can have a different view about meds because they don't understand how you can take them everyday and still function. They don't understant about tolerance to meds and to the side effects. I have been on meds for well over 10 years and
