Hi - yes it's a huge difference on and off the diet. I am now pregnant again and so far sugars on the diet are still excellent (though I am pretty sure I will need to be on insulin in a few months).
I test fasting every morning with the home meter. It is accurate within a small margin. And is good to see how you're going. I also test 2 hours after eating, if I've eaten a meal with carbs in it. Breakfast is just eggs so I don't bother to test after.
