Thanks for your question regarding your elevated enzymes. My wife had a very similar situation. She runs 4-5miles a day often and went for a routine physical. Her Ast was 249 and Alt was 78. Everything else normal and perfect cholesterol. We were nervous. I am a physician myself and went on the Internet and found your post. Her doctor wanted to send her for Hepatitis serology and GI specialist but after reading your post and checking some fairly hidden resources I told her to not exercise for a week and recheck. Guess what, everything came back normal!!! I'm surprised more docs don't know. I'm a radiologist so I don't have much patient contact. Thanks again.
I noticed your write up on your AST/ALT being elevated... I have a problem similar. I started with a personal trainer a month ago. Never really worked out before that - only 20 lbs overweight. I have been hitting the gym anywhere from 5 -7 days a week. Had some blood tests ran and my AST/ALT were really high. Everything else was in normal limits - same thing Dr wanted to run all these different tests. I told her of my excerises and she assumes it has nothing to do with it. Thanks for giving hope out there. I have no pain anywhere- just a little tired (normal because what I have been doing) I haven't felt healthier in years.
