just a clarification to my previous post: the partially successful decompression surgery to correct the Chiari Type 1 malformation was performed by another surgeon. Dr. Rosner is the 2nd neurosurgeon on the case but seems to have a much more profound comprehension of the defect and its associated disorders... that's just my opinion at this point anyway. I am awaiting more test myself.
you may want to check out Dr. Michael Rosner from Hendersonville, North Carolina. I had a decompression surgery in October of 2009, a tethered spinal cord surgery in August of 2010, and a VP shunt implant 4 weeks later.
The first surgery was partially successful but Dr. Rosner from NC has discovered that another surgery may be necessary.
He is absolutely amazing and believes his patients and has a big heart.
My phone number is 484-343-7109. I am from Ontario, Canada and have suffered severely. In total, I have seen 27 doctors and many have scoffed my symptoms. It hurts deeply when people don't understand because this is real and it is serious.
Dr. Rosner is dedicated 100% to Chiari and has helped many people in the past.
Dr. Alfred Bowles did my decompression surgery for Chiari Malformation in April of 2009. To me, he was the best.
Sorry, I just now saw your question on Dr. Alfred Bowles out of Johnstown, PA. He operated on me for brain tumors TWICE (in different areas of the brain). I'm not sure I'd trust anyone else - he was great! I have some side effects, not too major (I also have M.S. that could be causing some of it), but you can't tell to look at me! E-mail me if you still have questions. ***@**** 6-17-2010
