BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS WITH A 4 YEAR OLD

Please I have a 4 year old grandson who gets totally out of control. For the most part he refuses to listen to any thing and won't even sit still for meals,...story time, etc. He does a lot of screaming the second he does not get his own way. {no we do not give in to him just because he screams} It is very difficult to put him to bed as his Mom has to lay with him till he is asleep. He always wakes in the night and if Mom is not beside him he freaks out. Mom has never left him to make him fear she might not return so am clueless to this kind of reaction. The Mom does not like to take him any where public beacuse he acts up so bad. We need help please!!!!!!!  { PS... he really is a very sweet and comical little boy,full of energy and a super imagination.}

Is this child in any sort of preschool or daycare setting?  How does he do in that setting?

Sounds like he is very anxious about mom leaving his side and him being alone.  Do you think he hears you when you ask him to do things?  YOu might look into sensory issues with the child.  

What does he do when out in the public?
