Behavior

My son is 14 years old.  He is currently taking medidate. Although he is taking the mediciation I am still getting calls from son with him not talking to much, wants to be the center of attention, not paying attention in class.  His grades are dropping from A's and B's to F's.  I just learned last night he has been sexually active.  Not sure what to do

I am not familiar with "medidate," so I can't specifically offer advice or support on that issue.  However - a few questions come to mind.

Has your son been diagnosed with ADHD?
If so, who diagnosed him (physician, psychiatrist)?
What behaviors led to the concern of ADD and meditate?

I have a lot of thoughts about this - but it's hard to make suggestions without knowing a little more.

My questions really get at - Does your son really have ADHD?  Or could it be something else?  This something else could be another medical problem.  It could be adolescent / teen angst.  Did any major events / tragedies happen recently?  Any issues with drug use?

The behaviors you described could mean a number of different things - and understanding what is going on with your son is the very basic concern. After that, you can tackle each concerning behavior one at a time.

Hope this helps.

I have a different take on this - Is his father in the home? If he is, is he active in your son's daily life? If not, do you have another male figure present in the home? My son is also 14, has ADHD. His father is in Kansas, and we are in California.

Until I could make peace with my son, it was awful, and in the past year and a half I had to re-establish who the alpha-male is>>>ME. He is still kicking a bit, but things are good considering our Special Circumstances. Please write back, I am interested.
