Can this be ADHD?

Sometimes I get so frustrated because my brain doesnt switch off. I lay awake and just want to screem because I'm so tired. I feel itchy all over and sometimes scratchmyself open. I am not on any drugs and do not drink often. I was on anti depresants but felt no different. I do not feel depressed just frustrated because it feels like I am not incharge of my mind. I am a student, 24years old, so have to concentrate alot. But finding it harder and harder each day. Does anyone know if this might be ADHD? Im realy frustrated. Andhate going to the doctor. he just keeps prescribing anti depressants. Wich I find weird because I am actualy happy, Just frustrated. I don'tknow what to do any more.

I agree with tschock.  You need to see a doctor that specializes in AD/HD.  Anxiety or Depression can cause what you are experiencing - however, AD/HD can cause the anxiety or depression.
If you have it, its probably ADD or they might have spotted it sooner.
There are two sites aimed at the adult ADD sufferer that you might want to check out are totallyadd.com and http://jeffsaddmind.com/for-first-time-visitors.
Both sites are done by people with ADD.  totallyadd was actually a PBS special and consequently is a series of short videos.  Quite entertaining and useful.   Jeffs add mind really reflects him.  Has much more adult interaction.  Both are worth checking out.

I understand your frustration.
It seems nowadays that if a doctor even "thinks" that you may have depression or anxiety at any point in your life, you will be labelled forever with it. They will stop looking ( in most cases anyways) for any other problems and just keep telling you that it's depression/anxiety.
Unless you go in with a large, open gash in your head ( which is physical proof ) and large amounts of blood pouring out of said wound...it's very unlikely that your doctor will diagnose you with anything other than depression/anxiety.

HOWEVER, depression CAN cause what you are experiencing.

I have ADD/ADHD...had it my entire life.
Have also had depression/anxiety.

Both can cause the "brain not turning off" thing.
Both can cause you to lose sleep.
Both can cause loss of concentration...but ADD/ADHD isn't quite the same.
Only a psychiatrist can truly determine what it is you have.
Tell your doctor that you would like a referral to see one.

As for the itching...that could be anything...depression/anxiety, dry skin, etc.

Hope this helps.
