Our 6 year old has been diagnosed as ADHD Combined type with ODD. He is presently being treated with Focalin 5mg for better focus at school and it is working. He is too wound up at night and the doctor wants to prescribe Prozac or Concerta so he can sleep. I'm concerned about their side effects. Are there other antidepressants with less side effects? Are there other alternatives - 5HTP? Should he take the Prozac or Concerta?
My 5 yr old son has ADHD, ODD, SPD, phew. Anyhow he is currenlty taking aderall and then I give him melatonin at night. It is a natural substance that helps get him to bed. Just mush it up and put it in milk 1/2 hour before bed.
