Forgetfulness and Poor Sense of Direction

Hello. Well I am here for an advice regarding my something-is-not-right problems. When I was young, I got a head injury and I hit the back of my head on the wall and I momentarily experience a mental black out. And I started forgetting things but first, rarely not often. But lately, I seemed to forget a lot of things...for example I put my flash drive on the desk in my room because I'll be needing it but aftter a minute, I forgot everything about it and of course, it's irritating to go upstair just to get it. It happens a lot too. And Im also not good at remembering names, and I feel pathetic talking to someone familiar and yet I have no clue what's his or her name is and to think that we've just met recently. Im suffering due to poor sense of direction too. For example, during the seminar in a certain hotel, I went in the bathroom with a friend few meters away from the seminar hall and then, I tried to go there alone and too bad I can't remember where it is because outside the seminar hall is a hallway and I got confused. It's kind of embarassing sometimes to get scolded by others just because I don't know where's the cashier or the exit...Im getting worried about my forgetfulness and at times, when I forgot something and tried to remember it, I almost cry because I am confused and not sure of my own memories of the previous tasks and events. Proper visualization of the tasks I have to do is very effective but to think that I can easily forget things after few minutes? I can feel it that there's something wrong with my short term memory. I tried telling my mom about this but she told me that it's natural to forget something especially if you are not concentrating...but to think that it's often?

I will be waiting for your advice and reply. Thank you.

Some people simply have poor memories. (Think absent-minded professor.) My father was like this. When I spoke to him one day about teaching me chess when I was a child, he told me he didn't play chess. He perpetually got lost on highways. On and on. One of my daughters is a little like this. If this were such an abnormal condition there wouldn't be all those memory techniques to help students with their studies.

To improve memory, try taking gingko biloba. There are extensive studies that support its efficacy. I took part in one. It was a two-year study concerned with short-term memory loss. The results were truly amazing.
