How has ADD/ADHD medicine helped you?

I'm at a point where I am trying to understand what exactly am I dealing with in life, and after meeting with my psychologist, the idea of medication has come up... granted it's understandable because if you meet me in real life you'd definitely probably suggest the same thing... though I don't want to live a life Dependant on a drug... but I also don't want my problems to consume my potential to be happy and successful.. at this point they are beyond overwhelming..

So how has ADD ADHD medication helped you? how has it hindered you? Please I really want to hear about you and your story.
