Good comments and I certainly agree with you. Thank for contributing to this community and WELCOME to it!
Welcome to our ADD world. Check out Dr. Daniel Amen & ADD authors Hallowell & Ratey. It can be frustrating to have this kind of brain but it does have advantages.
When people are being pushed to think outside of the box, we are thinking "Box? There's a box?" we have always thought outside the box...couldn't have stayed inside the box even if we wanted to. That's why you daydream. This brain is never bored because it can & will entertain itself in the presence of "boring". Albert Einstein is believed to have had it. You just have to learn how to take advantage of its assets, how to migrate towards where you belong and away from where you will not fit, and how to write Requests for Accommodations Pursuant to the ADA (because you will need them).
Learn as much as you can about your own brain's needs and preferences and modify your systems to fit YOUR brain. Learn how to properly nourish it (salmon, kale, beets, alpha lipoid acid, ginko biloba, alkaline foods & water, antioxidants, & lots of others). And learn about ADD itself. Addclasses.com is a good place to start.
It's a great community to be a part of. Welcome aboard.
Hi, I do this too!
I've failed highschool 6 times because of this, and now I'm finally on a waiting list to get a diagnose, hopefully.. I just thought I was lazy too, but I know I'm really not!! I can focus quite good on things I'm REALLY interested in, but everything else slips my mind, and I start to daydream, coming off as rude and/or stupid. The most common word in my vocabulary is "Hm?" Haha.. I LOVE to read, draw, paint and listening to music, and I love to be in "my own world". Not a good thing when trying to get an education or hold on to jobs..
Nah, if you were lazy, you would not even bother going to class. Certainly is one of the signs of ADD.
