My 11 year old self esteem

My 11 year old boy seems unhappy, he gets his peers' attention by making  a joke of himself or by pretending of falling down and bumping into things, he's very smart, though last year his grades were lower, he doesn't have real friends at school, at home he's always jealous of his 8 year old brother, please tell me what I should do to improve his self confidence and help him make friends.

Well, since you posted to an ADHD site - I guess I should also mention that some of those things are symptoms for a child with ADD.  In my teaching experience, I have found that if a child is intelligent, they won't really start having any real trouble in school till about 4th grade - and then its usually in math.  A really smart kid can hang in with B's and C's for many years, when they should be getting A's.
The hyper child gets all the attention, while the ADD child kind of just suffers through.  Anyway, its worth checking out the symptoms.  Here is a pretty good link for doing so -

If these do sound familiar, then you might want to get the book, "The ADD/ ADHD Answer book," by Susan Ashley.     Hope this helps.

The best thing you can do is praise him and boost his self esteem that way. Maybe spend some one on one time with him so that he feels that love.  Every child has different love languages you just have to find his.

Some kids act out because they want to be noticed and my daughter does that all the time. I feel that I could give her more time and if I did I feel she would behave differently.
