You didn't indicate the size of your son. Is he overweight? My son has similar symptoms, but he is very thin for his size. The medication by its self just doesn't cut it. I wonder if he has some issues with sugar because he will cry and throw fits (age 11) over sweets.
Enough about my kid. Good luck to you and God bless.
I agree with the people who posted after you. Psyche meds are not near the exact science with non-psyche meds. Also, not every med works for the same person...genetics, etc. Keep trying, but I think, in my opinon, that your son does need to eat. Perhaps he may be on an amphetamine, such as Adderall. It is classified as such. Other durgs, such as ritaline, are not as strong. It is expensive to go to doctors, but for the sake of your family and your son, and I KNOW, sometimes you have to shop around to get more than one opinion...especially with doctors in the psyche world...again, not their fault..psyche drugs hti people differently ( in most cases) more than conventional medications that none-psychiatric doctors use. thx.
Sandman makes an excellent point there -- extreme hunger should be evaluated by a medical professional.
Ok-- your son has behavior issues that were not effectively treated with ADHD meds, and a constant craving for food, with violence if he does not get it.
I'd suggest you to go to the web, and look up a condition called Prader Willi syndrome. I'd like you to see if the description matches your child. If it does, then I'd suggest you contact a psychiatrist and/ or endocrinologist to evaluate your child right away.
If not, then I still think you need to see a psychiatrist, because your child is exhbiting some extreme symptoms and I think other intervention is required. Behavioral counseling would probably be in order because most of his issue seems to be focused on inappropriate behavior.
