Sleep apnea causes ADHD

Sleep apnea causes ADHD

Hello board.

I have ADHD.  Interestingly enough, I recently had a sleep study due to my fatigue and though we haven't gone over the results yet, they admitted something was shown to be wrong and they are having me go in for a treatment sleep study using an airway breathing mask, so it looks like I have sleep apnea.

Anyhow, on reading up about it, I found that sleep apnea can cause ADHD, memory problems, trouble concentrating, etc.  I also read that even in those with actual ADHD, treating the sleep apnea helps the persons behavior a lot.  Anyone else here gone through sleep apnea treatment and found their ADHD better?  It will be interesting to see what happens in my case.

Here's an article about ADHD and sleep apnea:

Reread the article a little bit more carefully.  It does not say that sleep apnea causes ADHD or ADD.  It says that kids get diagnosed mistakenly with ADHD due to sleep apnea.
All of us function better with a good nights sleep!  So, yes, I would expect to see that you would see some beneficial results.  Let us know what happens.  Good luck!!
