So many different meds and none seem to work long

My son is 9 1/2 years old. Has been having behavioral issues since before kindergarten, been hospitalized 3 different times from 1st grade and 2nd grade. Last year 3rd grade seemed to have gotten better. but before school ended last year (2months) things started to get bad again and just continue to get worse.

He has been on tons of medication. Right now taking lithium, vyvanse, buproprion(sp?) clonazepam, tenex (for tics) ,  his tics seem to be getting worse again and his anger is just out of control. We have tried so many adhd meds (dr.s said vyvanse was the last one they could offer to him) cuz he just can't stop he goes and goes and goes, tried a few different meds for his mood, and some depression meds.  He is diagnosed ADHD, Opositional Defiance disorder, Mood Disorder NOS, Depression (they said they wont call it bi-polar right now because he is too young) anxiety disorder.

I just dont know how to help him or even what meds would work. He is a very loving boy but that can turn on a dime. he has started fires at home and at school in the past. he beats on his cousin and us. I'm very concerned and dont know what to do anymore for him. Please help if you can!

  Ouch!  I feel for you and him.
Sounds like his birthday is in June which would make him one of the younger ones in the class, but that has nothing to do with his ADHD - just makes school that much harder for him.  Hopefully he is in special ed and has an IEP to help him at school.
  Meds really are something that only a doctor can experiment with.  I guess the most important thing is to make sure you have a doctor that specializes in his problems.  In other words a regular pediatrician would be a bad choice for his level of problems.  What kind of a doctor are you seeing?

hi!! bren can u pls tell me wat kind of behavirol issues ur son shows,,anger ,, stubborn,, very moody.....
i m a mom of 3 1/2 yr old daughter ,, she has a very bad temprament.seems Everything is predictable in this world except for her bahaviour,, other wise she is very loving n caring but her behaviour n mood is terrible.
Maybe i cud help u or we can discuss over this issue.
