Strattera?? Anyone on it or had success with it?

Strattera?? Anyone on it or had success with it?

Hey everyone.  ALi here two weeks clean off opiates! :) Still can't sleeeeeeeep tho hence the three am post lol.  Other than that I have been feelin pretty good though!  I just had a doc appointment today to increase my pristiq (my antidepressant) and was hoping to get on something else to help with my severe adhd.  My friend takes adderall (adderrall) and I have taken that before which I found worked awesome for me at helping me focus and what not.  However, I am having a hard time getting the doctors to understand my issues.  I have been on nine hundred different anti-depressants and nothing really has helped which is why I often relapse back to the opiates.  My doc did give me Strattera to try in combination with the pristiq.  It is a non-stimulant and prob not as addictive.  However, I am worried it wont have the same effects as the adderall (adderrall) has for me.  Please I need help and advice from anyone who has been on strattera or knows anyone who has had success on it ??? Thanks so much
-ALi

I have been on both strattera and adderall (adderrall).  Adderall (adderrall) is very addicting to this (me) addict. The strattera didnt give the buzz adderall (adderrall) did. ALSO many people have reported adderall (adderrall) increased depression.  I hope this helps.  Congrats on getting off the opiates.  YOUR AWESOME !!

hey ali! congrats on quiting opiates back in April!! How has it been?  The reason i ask is cause i am going on a month and a week sober from opiates! since november 17th!!  I am a pretty knowledgeable when it comes to 2 things.  Meds and History.  I have had ADD my whole life.  I took ritilan in 4th grade only.  My mom took me off of it before i started 5th grade.  I would probably be a doctor if she hadn't.  lol.  When i got off the opiates my doctor prescribed me zoloft 50mg/day and straterra 60-80mg/day.  The zoloft made me feel like i didn't care about anything, didn't want to do anything but watch tv, so the doctor said because of my ADD it would not be as effective on me.  so i just stopped taking it.  the Strattera was a joke!  i took it for a month! it didn't help at all.  I just got a script for Adderall (adderrall) this morning.  20mg per dose.  WOW!! what a difference!  i have been productive, i feel like i need to move on with my life, and a bunch of other awesome things!  See, the thing about me and you and all others with ADD, is that we have a greater chance of becoming substance abusers, IF WE DO NOT TREAT OUR ADD!!! People with ADD have a dopamine deficiency.  Which is the chemical in your brain that makes you feel good, and have a sense of well being.  So subliminally ADDers try to increase there dopamine levels.  Usually by gambling, being reckless, or substance abuse!  In a med study they found that ADDers on stimulants (like adderall (adderrall), ritilan) have a reduced chance of being substance abusers.  hope this helps.
