My son was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 3 years old but I refused to put him on medication at that time because my older son was also diagnosed with ADHD and has time went on was able to manage with meds. Then I found out that he has ADHD the behavior part and with my older son was ADHD the learning disability part. Well, has my younger son got older and taller the symptoms and everything else got worse. When he was 7 years old, I started him on Strattera but it seemed that the Strattera made everything worse. This is when the explosive behavior started and I then pulled him off the medication. He done had EEG's done, MRI's, bloodwork and everything with all results coming back normal. Then he was diagnosed with having ADHD, ODD, Intermitent Explosive Disorder and Bipolar. He started taking Resperdal which did nothing and then was placed on Lamictal which has been a positive for him. Now since he is 12 years old and 6'2" tall weigting 200 lbs, the ODD, ADHD is really acting out right now. He can't sleep and always showing more and more the symptoms of ODD, ADHD and IED at school and at home. The doctor wanted to start a mood stabilizer but I don't want him on anything that will make him gain weight or turn into a zombie.
