adhd adult with out meds

My nephew has just moved in with us and he has adhd he is 17.  He was on medication when he was younger but has got off them due to the side effects.  I am trying to help him cope with this with out medication.  Any suggestions would be great or tell me where to start looking for help.

I have recently been looking into all natural ways to treat ADD. My son is on meds and I wanted to take him off. The two things that I found to help somewhat are green tea and bed time tea by Yogi. I never did take my boy off the meds altogether, but on weekends (when he doesn't take anything) I make him drink one of these teas and it does help some. Oh and just remember, constant gentle reminders of things are usually necessary. Unfortunately, little details can easily slip through the cracks...

There are two really great adult AD/HD sites that cover an enormous amount of info.  And since the sites are run by people with AD/HD - they have a lot of practical info also.  While it wouldn't hurt you to check out the sites.  I think it would be really important for him to see them.  With ADHD - information is the key!
The sites are:  totallyadd.com and   http://jeffsaddmind.com/for-first-time-visitors
Also, there are non stimulant meds (without the side effects that stimulants have) that can help ADHD if it comes to that.
Dealing with everyday living is the main concern and these sites should help.  But it all depends on what he is doing.  Being in school is tough due to the academic demands for example.  But schools also have to legally help people with ADHD.  So it all depends on what he is doing now.
The sites mentioned above will take time to go through due to all the info they have.  But I find once I start reading them, its hard to stop.
If you have any more specific questions, please feel free to post!
