my daughter has been a little different since she was born... she was also born into a house hold with an abusive father.. he physically abused me for 2 years before i left him, he then took her to a different state with out my knowledge and would not let me see her... 4 months later he brought her to my home that i shared with my boyfriend and i was pregnant with my new boyfriends babay. when she arrived she had been very badly neglected as she had exima and it had not been tended too she was a solid, from head to toe, scab.  she also was black and blue and i called to my x's brothers house to find out what the deal was.. he stated to me that she was being hit with a belt and not being taken care of... now she is almost 6 and she has no recolection of her biological father, just my husband that i am married to now... she keeps going to school making accusations about him beating her with a belt and his brother.. who is an outstanding kid, abusing her physically and sexually.  I have the sherrifs looking at us and there is currently an invesgigation going on and we do not run a house hold like that we dont even spank... also at home she admits to us that she is lying and doesnt know why but with a 5 year old who has a learning disability.. knowbody believes us!!!  what do i do??

I am sorry to hear about your difficult situation.  I would absolutely echo what was already said - Have your daughter see a therapist.  Whether or not she remembers your ex-husband or what happened - she is certainly going to be affected to one degree or another.

You might want to see if she has post-traumatic stress.

Again, I am really sorry to hear about all of this.  It must be so difficult.  Hope this helps, and I hope you have strong supports around you.

Maybe you need to take her to a therapist.  Maybe a counselor at school could help or point you in the right direction.
