Thanks for the reply. Now sure how it showed up on the ADHD site. But it is in answer to a very old post and the poster is long gone. Always gotta check the dates on these things. But, thanks for trying.
It shouldnt be an issue until the child is about 4 or 5. Thats when you should start having them sleep in thier own bed. If you wait longer they are likely to develop issues like poor boundaries, coping & relational problems to name a few. The parent might also want to seek help for these similar issues because they are likely to have them as well since they are teaching them to thier kids who will likely teach thier own children the same thing.
Depends on the child and who you talk to. Some people/doctors will tell you never to let your child sleep in the same bed as you. Some will tell you to stop at around 1-3.
If the child has a problem such as separation anxiety, then you'll have to work with a professional to help the child.
My third oldest slept with us until he was 5 and then he slept on our bedroom floor until he was 11. He had the worst case of separation anxiety that both of the psychiatrists that we took him to had ever seen.
He finally grew out of it himself.
Good luck.
