could it be adhd or something else?

My son is six years old he has been on medication since he was four not by my choice he lives with my dad and stepmother. After sudden temper tantrums, hyperactivity, and insomnia my parents took my son to a psychiatrist who then diagnosed him with adhd. And every single medication they have put my son on works for awhile and then stops also there is these ticks, like continous blinking or a coughing noise The thing is I never noticed that behavior until after I went away to school,I was his only caretaker since birth .My question is this could what the psychiatrist diagnosed my son with having adhd really be something else?

It make's me mad that doctors just give our children these medicines with all these side effects ,and yet we are not to give our children  cough medicines these days

Since it is to to late and he has already been put on all these drugs ,I wood fine out by his doctor , how to stop taken what medicines he is on for the adhd.

And yes it could be something else ,it could have been that he wanted his mom, and this was his way of acting and trying to let others know. What they should have done was talk to him and sent him to some one to talk to, if that is what he needed.Or waited things out and see what happen in time, since he was only 4 at the time and kind of young to be on these strong medicines.

Now I would also ask the doctors to send him for an egg,to make sure everything is OK there ,because these medicines go to the brain and can cause problems. also get a good blood work up on everything to make sure things are OK.

The side effects that can be caused by these medicines can be very bad,and my son is dealing with them since 2006 and can not be reversed .And taken a lot of medicine every day ,also surgery to try and help, because he ended up having seizures every day and have gotten worse and not better, even with trying medicines. And my son is still hipper and I will not put him on any medicines for his adhd.

I hope everything thing works out for your son and you, would hate for anyone to go threw what my son has ,and will got threw every day.

If you have not read yet ,you should read what I wrote in hear.

please read before put our children on anything.

Read some of the posts on this forum you will see that meds do have side effects on some children , he sounds as if he needs evaluating with what Meds he is receiving they can cause ticks and night mares and excitability, I suggest you or your parents ytke him to be re-evaluated possibly with a new Doctor.
