finger motions when watching T.V. and pacing

My son, who is 12 years old, was diagnosed with ADD a couple of years ago and we have not medicated him.  He is not hyperactive.  My question is that he seems to make a motion with his hand when watching T.V.  When I ask why he is doing this behavior, he doesn't know and can't explain.  Do you know what this might be or what it is called so I can research further?  He also paces around the playground at school.  He used to walk around the kitchen table when he was younger but I have not seen this in a long time.

Thank you.

also, reading your heading of your post-----  my son paces a lot.  It is his way of clearing his head, organizing thought and focasing.

I, of course, can't see your son----------  but my child will do some things with his hands like finger rolling movements.  He has sensory integration disorder and does occupational therapy.  I asked his occupational therapist about it and she said it was a sensory thing.  He says it is itching which we don't know exactly what it means if it is tingling or really itching.  So he moves his fingers and hands around because of it.  He does it when he is watching tv too.  I don't know if that helps but he may have some sensory things going on.  goodluck
