i think my10 year old son had add!

my son has always been hard work! he always wants to be in control of games he & his friends are playing, he is very imature comapred to his class mates eg playing with teddy bears, & action figures rather than just hanging around like his other friends, he is very disruptive in class as he canot concentrate on what the teacher is telling the class, his maths & english are way below averige for someone of his age as he found it so hard to concentrate since starting school. he had to start from scratch 2 years ago as he was finding simple sums & spelling incredably diffucult. i had him assesed by cams in england who did a sereis of tests but he got just below the mark he needed to be diagnosed with add. he is impulsive, & dosnt follow tasks correctley at home or school. he is unconfidant & gets frustrated when he dosnt understand tasks that have been set, he never sticks to anything & he dosnt enjoy sports, but loves art & drama so thats what im trying to encurige him in, (altho he finds it difficult to follow instructions & concentrate) & is challenging to gt him to stck to it.
i no how he feels as i found school very challenging( you can probobley tell from my spelling mistakes!) & im often made to feel silly even now when i dont understand & every one else dose! & i dont want him going throgh life feeling like this.
i just wondered could he be borderline add? or is there no such thing? i feel im at the end of my teather living with this behaviour on a daley bases & no amount of grounding, taking away luxurys , or telling him how it makes me feel is making any differance. i also have a 2 year old son who is hard wotk dont get me wrong! but already you can see an intrest when showin him colours numbers & shapes, whereas my eldest never wanted to sit & read or anything! what do you think?

        I'm sorry, somehow I overlooked your post.
To answer your question, he definitely could have ADD or ADHD.  If the assessment by Cams was done last year, have them do it again.  HIs marks will be lower this time.  But (at least in America) a ADD assessment is done with more than just tests.  It usually involves questionnaires to the teacher and parent.  If all they did was a series of tests, I wonder what they were really testing for or how things are done over there.   You might see if you can get his teacher to also add her input to your request.
    I would also suggest that you get the book, "The ADD/ ADHD Answer book," by Susan Ashley.  You can order it through Amazon.  It will give you all kinds of help from discipline to schooling.
