Hmmm....I don't know that I can help, but I can make a few suggestions. Have him evaluated for autism, there is a very broad spectrum out there, maybe check for seizure disorder as well. There are many types of seizures, not all seizures cause you to drop to the floor in convulsions. Short term memory loss in a child could be caused by seizures or something even more serious, has he be checked for growths or tumors? Is he on medications? I believe he needs to be seen by neurologist to figure out the memory problem. There is more wrong than learning disabilities and adhd, with the right exams/testings they can put him on a better program for success and you can have real answers hopefully. You may be able to get him on disability as well (SSI) to help cover the extra costs. Department of Mental Retardation in your area could probably help point you towards the help you might be needing. You are not alone out there and if you keep an open mind about your sons level of need you will get the things he needs and you will have people with you along the way. I hope these suggestions help you. If you google autism and seizures you may find some information that may fit the description of your son, and you may have a direction to head in when you DEMAND help for your son. Don't take no as an answer, push, be a witch. Instead of speakingg with the school system try writing a letter to the speciald education department. They should have real suggestions for you don't discount what they are saying, ask them questions, what they think about your son, ask what evaluations to ask for, they should have some information to help you. Be Strong, good luck and I hope I have helped in some way.
It sounds like he might have dyslexia? A special school might be able to offer him special programs that the public school do not use. I would first visit the LD school and see the enviroment. Ask them about programs they use and how it will help your son. You might also want to look into Susan Barton reading program. I've heard many good things about it.
I know of alot of parents who would love to put their children in special LD schools. But they just can't offord it.

hey there lolly, i was reading your post about your son. my son is 8 and also adhd and learning disorder he is in 3erd grade at a early first grade level. he was also tested with that memory thing where he cant remember from day to day for example tying shoes, running bath water, his phone number ext he does not remember how to do these things. this year he was taken from a diagnostic class room to a learning disorder class about 6 students we also changed his med's from foclon to adderall (adderrall). medication may not have been right because he is doing better and the class room has differently helped with his confidence to succeed we started him back at a first grade level if you miss the basics how can you go forward? thing have been inproveing fast he brought home a 100% on a spelling test for the first time! I say look into your parent rights with your school district or google child advocates in your area they are there and free to help us parents with our rights.does your son have a EIP?im sure he does go through your paper and contact the distrect director for help dont stop i know its hard but we must fight for our kids please keep up to date or if you need more info or help pleas let me know! tarbill_angie27***@****
i have a 5 1/2 yr old son and he has severe adhd and we have been dealing with this type of behavioral with him since he was 3 and had been kicked out of headstart, 3 daycares and at they ymca and since he was tested with severe adhd he is on adderral and has been a very big improvement he is now in kindergarten but before he had been trying like 6 to 8 different meds and this one has helped alot its like a total different child
it was to the point where my son would get out of control and be violent to me and leave bruises but now when he knows he gets upset about anything he turns his attitude around which is a big jump for him any little thing would set him off take the advise get your son tested and suggest trying him on the adderral
