seratonin and adhd

my 13 yr old son was diagnosed w/ adhd @ age five, was medicated with ritalin @ age six.we soon found out that stimulants seemed to make things worse for him, we went from ritalin to concerta to adderall (adderrall) to strattera. from the beginning, we have included weekly, sometimes daily therapy, and in the last three years intensive in home therapy. here we are and my son still gets suspended from school on a weekly basis for stealing, cursing, yelling and cursing at other students, and being as disruptive as he can be. at home he is very slowly coming around and i really think this is just growing up and slowing down a bit. but no matter what we do or try, he still tries everything in his power to get kicked out of class, or to get a rise out of other students! we follow similar guidelines for treatment of conduct disorder, and recently have been looking into cleptomania tho i really feel this stealing which began at a very young age, is a subconsious soothing of his anxieties. this is a very bright young man, with a normal- high IQ, who doesnt need to study very hard to get straight A's yet REFUSES to do ANY assignments unless it is of interest to him!!!
INFURIATING!!!!!what to do?? i dont think medication is going to do anything, and i have from the beginning felt that there is some underlying cause, maybe a lack of seratonin, maybe a higher testosterone level. I have CAH, an adrenal disorder, and have recently had him tested for the same, hoping that here lies the key. I refuse to put him on prosac, which has known affects( seratonin) this is a normally energetic, outgoing, well spoken and outspoken, friendly young man with no fear( unfortunately) and his only issues are his narcissism and lack of empathy towards others.ANY IDEAS???

Have you thought how he may be if he wasnt taking this extremely powerful medications, how about you ask someone in the field if you could wean him off and see what happens, a lot of these meds do affect the children that are given them and as you are at the point of not knowing what to do, would it hurt to try it.Think of the side effects this stuff causes he probably feels bad a lot of the time, look up on the internet the affect of the powerful drugs you ahve said he is on.Good Luck
