why do I have to scream to my 5 yr daughter for her to listen to me

I dont want to scream at my daughter in order for her to listen to me at home or listen at school.

    check out the child behavior forum - or post there.  Lots of people have the same experience and lots of good ideas on that forum.
    basically, she has learned to ignore you until you go ballistic.  The secret is you ask once.  then you make eye contact and repeat.  nothing happens, it's a (short) instant timeout.  you have to be very consistent with this and expect it to take weeks  for her to unlearn what she has gotten comfortable doing.
    I would highly recommend that you get, "SOS Help for Parents," by Lynn Clark.  It shows you how to use timeouts effectively.
    By the way, be selective on what you ask and reinforce with timeouts.  If you do this every time you speak to her, its not gonna work.
