ALS or Paranoia?

My mom died of ALS in 2004 at the age of 64. I think I can speak for everyone else whos lost a loved one to ALS that it seems all the victims of this terminal desease are all extremely strong, brave, loving and courages people. This is no desease to get if you are a follower not a leader or a selfish person who would save his own butt and run and hide when push comes to shove. People who get this terrible desease are all incredibly strong loving people and by far the bravest people there is. Theres got to be something to that!! As for my question, ALS or paranoia? The odds of you being paranoid are much greater then you having ALS. I understand what its like to worry you might get it but my friends if you think you have symptoms its more of a question of do you or dont you want to know? If you would want to know then get tested otherwise you will live in hell eveytime a muscle twitches or your throat is sore, it would be no way to live your life. All blood family members and generations to come will all worry they could get it but just because you carry the gene it doesnt mean you will get it. I personally dont want to know and refuse to live in fear that I might have it when I feel a symptom of this horrible terrifying terminal desease. I hope I dont offend anyone with my views. For some reason when your told you have it you go really fast. I just HATE to hear of people living in constant paranoia that they think they might have it because a blood family member died of it. I dont know, I guess Im more angry then paranoid and thats no way to live either.

Thank you James. Regarding people being the nicest people who are afflicted with ALS. Why them? Why? Think about how incredibly brave they have to be. What brings you to this forum if you don't mind me asking?

I find it very interesting what you said about people afflicted w ALS. My neurologist said that ALS people are the absolute nicest people.  Even before they are diagnosed. She said there must be some correlation. She went on and on about that. Very interedting i thought

Thanks,

James
