ALS scare

I am a 26 year old female and I have been experiencing tingling sensation in my hands, twitching of my fingers and toes; specifically involuntary movement of my right toe - where it moves slowly, but I can't feel it. It seems to be happening constantly now; the twitching doesn't seem to go away. I am really scared. I have also had all-over muscle twitches (in thighs, breast area, etc). I am freaked out.
I have had blood testing, and all came back fine so far.
I used to crack my own back and neck a lot, and would prefer it to be nerve damage as opposed to ALS. Any comments? Please help.

Hi there:

Thank you so much for your help.
I went for an MRI, and I have seen a neurologist and he said that I have a peripheral neuropathy. The twitching in my one toe was constant for a very long time, but now it seems to have mostly gone away. He said that twitching is suprisingly quite common. I think for me that the twitching was also stress related because I was under a lot of stress at the time that I can see now looking back on the situation.
I pray for you and for a cure for ALS.

Sarah

Oh yea ALS normally starts around 40 ish, if that helps to set aside those fears. I'm 43.

If the symptons you mention are your only symptons then I would think nerve damage prior to considering ALS. If blood tests are all that's been done then you have a lot of testing to go before your doctor should consider ALS.......ie mri's, emg, spinal tap. ALS could be suspect but there are a ton of other things to look at before ALS. Tests are done to rule out the other possibilities, there is no test that detects ALS. It is something else when my symptons started the last thing I suspected was ALS. ALS is a lot rarer then most people think so at the point your at I wouldn't worry about it yet.  Although the symptons vary mine started out with my limbs tiring easily and feeling like they were buried in concrete along with a headache and difficulty swallowing. So to me it sounds like nerves. Which I have impinged nerves not connected to my ALS. Best wishes to you!!
