ALS symptoms

I have been having fasiculations over the past 5 or 6 months. My neurologist did a work up exam and found no weakness, atrophy, slurring speech, Babinski, etc. He indicated it was not ALS but rather BFS. He also noted that the fasiculations were moving my fingers and noted that ALS fasiculations move muscles not joints. Subsequent visit he did an EMG and found a small patch of denervation on one bicep and one thigh. He now is concerned about MND and has decided to get a 2nd opinion from a sub specialist and do a muscle biopsy. He indicated he was not diagnosing MND but wanted a second opinion. I noted for him I have had disc problems for several years and was exhibiting the classical sypmtoms of a herniated disc but he did not think that would have caused any of the denervation. I have also had rotator surgery and a few picnhed nerves over time.

I am concerned that he somewhat changed his diagnosis on the basis of as he put it "a little patch of denervation on your bicep and thigh". Has anybody heard the same thing on joint fasiculations he mentioned? Any medical thoughts out there to calm my wife's nerves before we get the biopsy done?

Thanks
