IS IT ALL CONNTECTED???

I have just been told I have sleep apnea. It is in the moderate range. I am waking myself up every 2 1/2 min. throughout the night so I never really get into a deep sleep. Now I know why I always feel tired...

Also, about a month ago I noticed that I was waking up with sore and stiff muscles in my lower legs and hands..when I first get out of bed my feet are sore to walk on. .It would take about 1/2 hour to get loosened up. any time I rest for a while i get sore and stiff. The morings are the worst. I have been to the rheumatologist..not RA my ANA was normal as well. all  my blood work came out fine. i was told it could just a some non-specific Arthritis.

Then over the past few weeks..I have noticed muscle twitching in my muscles. It is random little twitches all over. they last just a split second...does not seem to have any pattern. It happens again ..when i am reasting or relaxing. Also, I have woken up in the morining not only stiff and sore but sometimes one or both of my arms/ hands are numb and tingling. almost like i was sleeping on it. Sometimes I was,  BUT other times i was not sleeping on it and it was numb?..I was sleeping flat on my back with my arm by my side or on my chest.???

Now I am getting myself all worked up over this..I know stress and anxiety can cause some of this..But it hard not to worry about things like MS and ALS.

Anyone have thoughts on all these symotoms? Is it all related to Sleep Apnea? Stress? Both? Something else?

- Sleep Apnea -  I feel tired never refreashed when I wake up...not getting deep sleep.
- Stiff sore muscles when i wake up...take 1/2 hour to loosen up my feet are tender and sore to walk on)
- Random Muscle twitching
- Numb arns and hands and/or legs in the moring - goes away once I get moving.

Now, I have put on weight over the past year...I know it will help with the sleep apnea if I lose some...but that is the only change I can think of...

I will be going in this week for the 2nd sleep study to try out the "Mask" to help with the sleep apnea. Will this help with the oher issues...can or does sleep Apnea..cause the twitching, soreness, numbness ect....is it stress of not knowing causing this..or both? or is it something else I need to look into? Or see a Doctor about.?

Any help would be greatly appreiciated.

I also started with random twitching last Feb. Only I could feel them,no one could see them. At the same time my tongue would tremor so bad my teeth would chatter. I saw a neurologist who diagnosed familiar tremors and she put me on lexapro which I could not take. I had a brain MRI which was essentially normal. I have been having shoulder and arm pain but not weakness so today I am having a cervical MRI. The tongue tremors are now tongue biting occasionally and sometimes I feel like I am drooling or spitting saliva out my mouth.Since I did not feel I was adequately able to express my symptoms to the neurologist and everything is continueing should I request my GP to order me a emg. Would it show anything?Could familiar tremors cause the symptoms or maybe fibromyalgia?

I can't believe what I was reading in your post!!  I have some of your very same symptoms, the stiffness (getting worse all the time),  tingling hands/arms in the morning and middle of the night, random muscle twitching, fatigue, etc. This has been going on for over a year now, and have not been able to find a doctor that can diagnose my problem.

I have seen a rhuematologist to rule out Lupus (which my ANA is a low pos....so Lupus was ruled out at this time)  Have been checked for RA (which is neg.) Have been diagnosed with Antiphosolipid antibodies, and ITP.  But, I have been told those conditions should not be causing my muscle soreness.

You mentioned sleep apnea,  which I have never had a sleep study to rule that out....but, I do snore very badly when I sleep....which wakes me up at night also.  I do not sleep well at all!!!!!  You may be on to something here!!

Fibromyalgia has been mentioned, but no one seems to take me serious about that!  I wonder if sleep apnea could be the root of my problem as well as yours. It makes sense to me.  If one does not sleep well at night...for a long period of time, it seems possible it can cause our symptoms.

I am glad I found your post, because this is the first time I have ever seen anyone post the same IDENTICAL symptoms that I am having, and I have done a TON of research about my symptoms.

Thanks for bringing this up...it will be my next area to investigate!!

Please re-post and let me know what you find out.  Also, can you tell me if you are a Male or female?  The gender thing seems to also be an issue with Fibromyalgia, and the symptoms we are having!

Thanks and I hope you feel better soon!
