Possible ALS

by PaulW47, May 17, 2007 12:00AM
I started having abnormal muscle spasms in my right quadricep in October 2006.  This quickly spread to other limbs and includes unintentional contractions of my arms, legs, trunk, shoulders, wrists and neck.  In February 2007 my right forearm and hand became very stiff and tired.  I had an EMG of my right arm/hand, which was normal.  The Neuro suggested I take inti-inflammatories and sent me on my way.  The stiffness subsided for a few weeks and returned about four weeks ago with a noticeable increase in muscle twitches (fasciculations) all over my body, but especially in my legs.  My internist thinks the twitches and stiffness are unrelated, but I'm going for another EMG next week anyway.  Any ideas what this could be?  MS, ALS, completely benign?  I am at a loss.
