twin brothers both experiencing same symtoms

by bman1979, Jul 03, 2008 07:24PM
About 4 months ago i started to experience widespread muscle twitching. No part of my body was spared. In addition I also noticed sharp pains in my hands, feet, and, thighs that I remember from as far back as last year. I also noticed that my fingers would shake in a tremor like fashion. I went and saw my GP who ordered an EMG and blood test, all which came back "essentially normal". I had an MRI which also came back nornmal. I felt relieved for a while believing that I suffered from BFS. However, the twitches continued and my biceps started to feel like there was a vice grip around them. Also my left shoulder began to hurt like the joint was becoming dislodged. Soon after this my throat and face started twitching and I could actually feel my ears popping  in response. I also noticed that with exercise that my muscles shake from head to toe. After intentionally working out the back of my thighs I also noticed that they shake badly. I do not feel weak and have actually increased my ability in some area's while exercising.  My identical twin brother  has begun to experience the same symptoms that I started with. Now I  am becoming seriously convinced that we both have ALS. We have no family history of this disease on either side. So the odds of famial ALS seem very low. But what are the odds of sporadic ALS hitting twins at the exact same time? Is there any type of exposure that could cause these symtoms?  If your hands had atrophy would they be rigid or feel like jello? And would ALS present this quickly with all the symtoms that I have described?
