Propoxyphene addiction (darvocet) help requested

Dear Friends,
This is my story. I live in India. I went through a very hard phase in life 10 years ago. An alcoholic who wanted to quit and supplemented spasmo proxyvon (Indian equivalent of darvocet or darvon (propoxyphene HCL)) as a substitute it was and still is cheaper. Since that time I have been addicted to it (7 years). I kicked the booze which was great, but I am unable to kick this habit. I checked the internet for help. No real help achieved. I take 20 to 26 pills everyday. Tried tapering unsuccessfully. Any person who has recovered from this addiction? Please help me how you did it! Thanks and ever grateful.

Thanks a lot. I will surely do that. Jo929...There are problems in just going to a doctor and asking for advice first. I prefer to try by myself first and with help from people who have overcome their own problems. But, thank you for your advice. I will keep that as a last resort. Let ne check out the substance abuse forum

Check yourslef into a clinc for addiction.  You will also get help to understand your addictive personality and realize you could quit the Darvacet and replace it with another addiction if you do not get therapy.  Make AA an ever day and big importance in your life....AA will be a huge factor as you go thruough life  I wish you the very best and I think you have taken the first step towards sobriety, admitting you have a problem.  God bless, Hey Jude
