6 year old male - with painful acne on his butt

My son has started developing acne on his butt.  The more he sweats, the more zits there will be.   He gets a bath right after karate and football practice, gets his eczema cream, puts on clean clothes and goes to bed.  The butt pimples are painful and usually fairly large with white heads, they will pop just like face acne.  What can I do to help them heal and prevent them?

He takes a daily multi-vitamin
I put baby powder in his undies to help keep him dry

You are doing all you really can do...aside from taking him in to the doctor to get some sort of really expensive cream or pill that may or maynot work. lol

I feel for the little guy.
Have you tried cornstarch instead of babypowder? It may help.

Also...giving him a bath everyday is kind of bad for eczema.
One thing you could do to help, is to add oatmeal to his bath water.
If that isn't possible, see if you can convince him to shower instead.
Showering is better than a bath for eczema sufferers...esp in the dry months.
You could also try changing soap...use something milder than what you've been using.
Try Aveeno if you haven't already.

I have had eczema and winter skin my entire life so I know what the poor kid is going through.
I can't use the big "name brand" laundry detergents, and most soaps, perfumes, etc.

When the pimples start to surface try a hot compress...as hot as he can stand it...this will draw them to a head so they will pop.

I have an ointment that seems to help quite well for most things...they sell it behind the counter where I live, so you'll have to check with your pharmacy, but it's called Calmoseptine.
It protects, soothes, and helps to promote healing in diaper rash, chapped skin and lips, chaffing, dry itching skin, and minor irritations.

This stuff cures diaper rash in one night! lol

Good luck with the little one.

Thank you!!

We rotate between baths and showers...he likes the play time in the bath. I can't really blame him, he has some cool tub toys.  I bought Aveeno oatmeal bath tonight when I was at walmart and a cornstarch, thanks for the suggestion.  I also picked up some new undies.  We are going to have him change them afterschool everyday so that he keeps dryer?

I'll call his ped. on tuesday and see if we can get a referral to a dermatologist. Maybe they know something wonderful too...I just hate putting a kid through the embarrassment of showing his butt!
